Re: Nizversions!

Well, Alternity was in the heady days of AD&D... some system progress has been made since.
I'd consider using M&M.

Re: Nizversions!

The Sandmen and Étoile Part 3 – The Metallic Masters A fallen star carried the Etoile to Creation. Their nature is alien and so far unknown. Bearing a vague resemblance to a metallic jellyfish, an Etoile is essentially a writhing mass of metal wires that end in tiny pincers. Moving by pushing with ...

Re: Nizversions!

The Sandmen and Étoile Part 2 – Greater Modification To complete the transformation into Sandmen, the Etoile install minor techno-magic modifications into their servants. These implants are powered and directed by the nanite infection, and cannot be used by anyone non-Sandmen. However, they are exc...

Re: Nizversions!

The Sandmen and Étoile Part 1 – Nanite Infection The Etoile use tiny magitech machines, so small they are invisible without aid of powerful charms, to create the Sandmen as servants. Sandmen are created from normal humans. The first stage of this transformation is deliberate infection with the nano...

Re: Nizversions!

I knew what you meant, just picking for fun. I will be curious to hear what they do with a lot of things in 3e Exalted. Still likely won't get it, if only because I've really lost touch with WW in general (heck, I'm gradually selling off my WoD books online). Unless it was somehow really rea...

Re: Nizversions!

Yeah, I was just trying to be faithful to the originals. But that's also why I kept the direct stat bonuses small. For my part, I use inherent enhancement bonuses in D&D (4e). So characters have attack, damage, AC, fort/ref/will bonuses based on level. Then, I have magic items be dependent on th...

Re: Nizversions!

(Guess what I've been playing!) Set Artifacts While these items are technically greater wonders, making use of the magical materials, they use very small amounts of those materials along with mixes of alloys and special materials. This causes their individual power to typically be low, but when harm...

Re: Nizversions!

The Power of Zakarum The charms of this set are similar to Sorcery, in that they can be taken by multiple Exalt types and even Mortals who meet the prerequisites. Due to the righteous power embodied in Zakarum, Creatures of Darkness cannot learn or use these charms. Further, a character must have a...

Does that tread closer to the old WoD "roll to avoid tripping on the curb, botch and break your neck" type thing?

Re: Nizversions!

Oh definitely, probably my biggest gripe with a game is when the pitch and story and fluff don't match up with what you can actually do mechanically. That was one of my biggest problems with White Wolf for a long time. In terms of setting purity... I tend to make my own settings, so there's that. An...

Re: Nizversions!

See, when I'm feeling nostalgic, I just get out my old AD&D books. Usually just reading them is enough to fix that. But sometimes I actually want to use them. What I don't want is a new game that's a lot like my old game... always forward. Why I'm hesitant about 5e D&D from what I've seen. C...

Re: Nizversions!

Not seeing a whole lot different in the quick character stuff, aside from condensing and renaming a few stats. But we'll see I guess. Returning to roots could be good but isn't always, and seems to be what D&D is doing as well. Which is starting to make me think the average gamer is just getting...

Re: Nizversions!

It'll still have to be pretty damned impressive to get me back into Exalted though. Not impossible, but I'm not really holding out hope or expectations.
I mostly use the setting as a source of looting for other systems, or have fun toying with conversions.

Re: Nizversions!

It had just never occurred to me that part of my disconnect with WW systems was that they have a tight (if sometimes odd) scale. Sort of makes it tricky for me, to relate them to anything broader in scope. Though I also wish they were a bit cleaner and clearer mechanically. Like damage in Aberrant s...

Re: Nizversions!

You know, I'm finding the oddly-narrow scale coming in with other WW stuff versus other systems. Aberrant to M&M for instance. Mega-Strength starts at about a 5-6 strength in M&M for 1 dot, jumps up to Strength 9 for 2 dots, but ends up at 12 strength for 5 dots (just 1/1 after rank 1). So, ...

I've considered actually buying a real cane, something simple and classic.
I apparently look good with a cane, or so I am told. 'Elegant' I think was the term.

Re: Nizversions!

That was sort of my point, there's no reason in an 'epic' game that it should take nearly 400,000 str + ath (20,000x the maximum on the table) to make Wonder Woman. Superheroes still might be higher than Exalts, but closing in on half a million?
