The Loom of Fate, Reimagined

As some of you might know, I presently run a modern Exalted game called Vast, Cool, and Unsympathetic (yes, it's a reference). I have a Dawn caste Solar, a Waxing Moon Lunar (fuck broken castes), soon to have a Malefactor (yes) and a Moonsilver Alchemical (I know). But I also have a Sidereal player,...

Re: Fixing the Lunars' Place in the Setting (omg she posts?!)

But I think the complaints about the Lunars lack of impact on the setting is much ado about nothing. First, Halta (which I don't think is cartographic embarrassment), the Haslanti League, and Chiaroscuro are not nothing. They are easily the most important countries in their respective directions, a...

Fixing the Lunars' Place in the Setting (omg she posts?!)

I copied this from a Google+ post I made, but I figured y'all would like to see it too. So, Masters of Jade. New Exalted project! Very exciting! I particularly like the new mass social combat system, mostly because it's not completely broken on its face. There are, however, some problems with it. No...

Re: Throwing mote costs out the window

The 10 motes = Fat Man/Little Boy thing is actually fanon, albeit fanon informed by math. Basically, it takes 1 mote to power one of those little lightbulb crystal thingies for a year. If you do all the math and work out how many joules that is, 10 motes does in fact crunch out to about as much ene...

Re: Sidereals are terrible...why?

I just found I got a snidley-whiplash feel from the infernals as I tried reading it. Especially the "acts of villainy" part. and For one, I've just never done well with body horror most of the time- I'm very picky about it. I was also pre-biased because I've just never thought Infernals s...

Re: Legend of the Five Circles [Mass Combat rewrite]

Thank you for fixing the parts of the system that are meant to make Exalted epic and huge but just end up making it an unusable bogged-down clusterfuck. <3

I hope I get a chance to use this in a game. The mini-scene bits in L5R were some of my favorite parts of the system.

This is awesome.

I especially like the part where Yodoko (my character!) is kicking ass and making the Bureaucracy excellencies worth taking at long last! :awesome:

Best Practices / Etiquette FAQ

Over the years we've had occasional requests for a non-Exalted gaming forum. Your ever-watchful and beloved admins have finally gotten off their asses about it and given you one. Now, it's been a long time coming, so let's keep it nice and clean, yeah? ⋅  All forum rules apply here. Pretty...

Re: Suggestion - Other System Forum

I've added THOUSANDFOLD-WORLD-ASSUMPTION KATA as a General Gaming Forum. Users can still post game organization and log threads in GLORIOUS PERFORMANCE OF ROLES if they want, and Sequential Interaction Methodology is fine for play-by-posts of all flavors. If the need arises to separate mechanics fro...

Re: Sidereals are terrible...why?

The reason I'm no fan is because they're absolutely, 100% unnecessary. They perform no function that a god or other Exalt could not perform equally well. They seem like an excuse to write absurdly overpowered martial arts charms that don't ultimately fit in with their concept of Exalted Paper-Pushe...

Re: OSAMA BIN LADEN IS DEAD

How is it ditasteful? We've been living in fear of this "bogeyman" in our closets who is out to get us simply for being americans and non-muslims/arabs (even then he killed more of his own kind than ours >.> ) for over a decade and now he's gone - how does this not give us cause and or ri...

Re: Exalted: the System Resurgent

Everyone gets the same number of points at Creation, everyone can use those points on what they want, if someone wants to buy Backgrounds because it fits the concept that's perfectly fine, if someone else wants to buy more charms or higher Essence that's also fine. Yes, but if someone spends their ...

Re: Exalted: the System Resurgent

I'd note that the RAW assumption is also this way. You can't just spend XP and poof instant allies. What you CAN do is spend XP to say "Hey, ST! This sword I crafted? HANDS OFF. No stealing it, no breaking it, no 'oh you lost it', without compensation, just like if I'd taken it at chargen"...

Re: Exalted: the System Resurgent

On Solars: I think the release of Infernals really made Exalted and the Incarnae look like the bad guys. I mean, while the Primordials were alien....they did sort of make everything, and I can understand why they would feel as though they had the right to do what they wanted with what they made. I ...

Re: Exalted: the System Resurgent

I've added a Project Outline to the wiki to give a better idea of the path I plan to take with this rewrite. This isn't really a complete outline but it's a start, and it gives a pretty good idea of some of my basic ideas about how to change the system to make it more workable.

Re: Exalted: the System Resurgent

About the social system, the parts that bother me most are Appearance modifiers and the Bureaucracy system. Appearance sucks because I don't feel it helps the game. I feel like it's just an after thought; I've found in the VAST majority of my games (*anecdotal evidence warning*) that we simply forg...

Re: Exalted: the System Resurgent

Summat slightly more specific on the mechanics you have up: Night Castes are very scary. OK, it haemorrhages motes... but you can hit people with an unexpected Malestrom of Celestial Dominance when they can't use anything significantly better than an Excellency. Which is why they were the most fear...

This is an idea I've had kicking around in my head for some time, but recently I've started giving it some thought and other people have shown interest, so I'm going to go ahead with it and make it a major project. This will probably take some time to finish off completely, but I've already got a co...
