Re: RotSE: Running it?

Okay...I guess a slightly broader and more comprehensive question is in order. In the course of RotSE, you fight everything from the Queen of Hell's minion armies to the full Realm legions of brainwashed Terrestrials to THE PERSONIFICATION OF SUPERVILLAINY. What kind of things would be requisite for...

RotSE: Running it?

Okay, it doesn't take a lot to realize that Return of the Scarlet Empress is less a chronicle book and more a smattering of many, many ideas building up to the final epic throwdown with the Ebon Dragon for all the proverbial marbles in the snowglobe. It contains more epic epicness than any single gr...

The Requisite Tron Legacy/Alchemicals thread

So, with Autochthonia due out soon (maybe? maybe) and Tron Legacy rocking the theaters, I figured now's as good a time as ever to crack open some of the commentary and ideas behind Legacy and see about integrating it into Autochthonia. First and foremost, I LOVED Legacy's imagery of a world with no ...

Buried Secrets, Chapter 5

"No. No, no, no, no no no no!" Slashing Crane stormed out of the hut half-dressed, Loreheart haphazardly strapped across his back. "I am not going back there, I am not having anything to do with that place, or that thing! " "Crane, stop!" Cold Robin called, pulling on h...

Writing the Fair Folk

A curiosity of mine, since I find the Fair Folk book so godawful difficult to follow... How do you author-types write the Fair Folk? How do you write their effect on the people they feed from? How do you illustrate the descent of a victim into madness and finally to soulless husk? I realize these ki...

This is indeed fantastic stuff, man. I'd love to see you do a kung-fu peacock warform one day, but it seems almost too mundane after something like this.

Buried Secrets, Chapter 4

Arathea knelt before the tent as the two Dragon-Blooded attended each other, the meek little Air Aspect securing straps across the Earth's back and attempting to keep herself from looking sad. Arathea herself tried to keep herself calm. "Lord Ochen, this is ill-advised. We have yet to hear from...

Even more Scion fun! This session, Yoshihiro Ishida was replaced with a new comrade - Remy, scion of Baron Samedi. Derek: "We shall tell the tale of the day my friend Braedyn wrestled a helicopter - and won!" Braedyn: "Derek, why do you have a tube of Krazy Glue?" Derek: "Th...

Re: Funney Quotes from Games

From my weekly Scion game. Our party consists of: Zheng Fa, Scion of Huang Di, Daoist/Legalist Sage and voice of reason Toshihiro "Toshi" Yashida, Scion of Hachiman, violence-prone samurai brute Derek Armstrong, Scion of Dionysus, the Eternal Fratboy Braedyn MacLanahan, Scion of Brigid, th...

I cannot recommend the Dresden Files strongly enough. It's...I wanna say a ten-plus book series by now, magic, noir/mystery, action, and a sense of humor that's WONDERFUL.

Scion Help

Hai everybody. :) I've recently gotten myself involved in a Scion game - my (regrettably) first chance to try the tick system and such of this sister-game to our beloved Exalted. I'm currently gunning for any tips or tricks people have found and/or utilized in the game that would be of worth to a me...

Scion: Celestial Bureaucracy

Hey everyone, I'm sorry for the non-Exalted topic, but I'm working on a PC for a friend's Scion game, and currently am putting together a Scion of Huang Di based around the Taiyi purview, as well as a few other traits (effectively a pseudo-Qin Shihuangdi). I'm aiming for the PC to be something of a ...

Heh. Note the Sanguinius shot is 2.4 seconds before he shoots up in the sky grabbing a 30-foot tall demon by its hoof, then breaking its back over his knee and hurling it to the ground in front of his buddies, proclaiming "Who else doth want some?"

Re: Unhallowed Necropolis - Impressions

I've not been able to do much more than peruse the book some, but I'm now deathly scared of Pyrokinetics and their "I succeed on this roll, you DIE" powers combined with the whole anger-them-and-they-may-accidentally-incinerate-you deal. I'm also eminently amused by the impediment for elec...

Re: Funney Quotes from Games

From my recent Changeling LARP:

Arachne: "The last time you were here, you shot me!"
Mister Cellophane: "It was an accident!"
Arachne: "...You accidentally shot me, at point blank range, with fully automatic weapons?"
Mister Cellophane: "....YES!"

Re: 4th Edition

Think of it this way - when there's no way to go but by the guile you have yourself, the crutches are gone and people stop relying on them. A given ST or GM could instigate different things for it - but by the above approach, you either sink or learn to swim. I'm a longterm LARPer, it's gotten to me...

Re: 4th Edition

I'm actually looking forward to some of the combat-focus for everyone's powers. It keeps dice where they belong - in combat (note, this is my opinion here) - and with a skilled GM, you can actually focus on roleplaying instead of "Well, I have (insert spell name here) that makes me immune to so...

4th Edition

Working in a game shop like I do, it behooves me to keep working knowledge of the games we have on our shelves. Besides White Wolf, I've been stocking a lot of things like Dark Heresy, and 4th Edition D&D. I haven't played 4th Ed yet, though friends of mine have and have good pros and cons that ...
