Just, no.

:mow:

Not that I have anything against MLP (the chick behind Powerpuff Girls brainstormed it for Neverborns sake) but some things should just not be...ever.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

but DPM - the two settings fit so oddly well together...

you have a sun-goddess already ruling everything from her city high up on a mountain (move that to heaven, instant UCS)

plus a moon goddess who's already been established to have somewhat shapeshifty and illusory powers - who's name is Luna!

the concept that virtues of friendship can defeat anything

giant monsters

changelings that feed off emotions with strange mind controlish magic that makes others their slaves

plus I've previously already posted a lot of MLP/Exalted crossover fanart that various artists have done (including my own)

but if anything then what I might send to hatewheel would be edited so it'd appear as a normal human-set story... just to keep things simple

I'm sorry, I think you misspelled that:

MLP most certainly can go with everything

...and if done right, it can be god

if done badly, as with anything else, its not good

that's one of the reasons MLP has attracted such a large adult audience. I won't bother you with the details, as I could rant about this until the third age, but suffice to say that MLP is a bit like our generation's Animaniacs - adult viewers 'get' certain things in the show that children dont, allowing the to appeal to both target groups on different levels. I see well written and realistic character portraits, personalities that can easily be transplanted into other settings. that's part of what makes the series so good with cross-overs: a well written character can work in pretty much any setting

Web, I see your points and even agree with some of them - you will find similarities if you know what your looking for but I like MLP and Exalted just fine as it is. (DISCLAIMER: The 14th Deathlord is NOT a Brony)

By themselves.

This is of course my opinion - no doubt there have already been such crossovers devised and written.

I don't really get MLP. I watched it a couple of times, don't really see what all the hype's about. But that's just me.

This is a 1 hour documentary made by a young man, a brony obviously, about why exactly the MLP phenomena is as it is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE7I_IDX98g

it is surprisingly enlightening

but again: its basically popular for the same reason that Animaniacs was popular. but it wasn't popular to everyone, and MLP isn't any different

Example:

In the, I think fourth episode of season one: while children might just see silly ponies getting all sleepy and acting funny in an episode - an adult will recognize a story about a workaholic slowly working herself death, with her friends trying to persuade her into accepting her problem

this speaks to both target audiences on very different levels. kids get their laughs and pastel colored ponies. Adults get a plot that might as well have been an episode of an adult drama series. chalk it up to really good writing

did I mention that the BBEG in the two first episodes of the second season is basically Q? ...voiced by the same actor who played Q in ST:NG?

I'm a brony. I get the hype. But I don't shove it down other people's throats if they've repeatedly shown no interest in it.

There are Bronies and then there are Bronies.

Just like the fans of (everything that has a fandom - which is everything) - there are good ones and bad ones.

Re: Writing For Exalted

true although from my own experiences as a brony I'm not sure we'd quantify what makes one a 'bad' brony by the same criteria

for me a bad brony would be the sort who'd throw fits over you not agreeing with them what the perfect OTP is, or just who exactly the six main characters can only be shipped with

or the ones who similarly throw fits if you dare to critisize anyone's fanart/fanfic/whatever brony related creations, instead spouting that you must love and tolerate no matter what, even if you're just trying to offer constructive criticism

so basically I take my definition on good/bad brony from how the furry fandom works (and there is a big overlap there anyway)

In my opinion, DPM's definition and yours are both true, but the difference stems from one coming from outside the fandom and another coming from within. For DPM, I think a good brony is one who doesn't attack you for not liking the fandom. I'd wager DPM'd be fine with a brony posting pony art and writing and so on, but in it's own thread, where it's up to the viewer. If the brony is asked to lay off in a different thread about a different topic, our good brony would theoretically comply, since our community is about contribution and laidback fun.
Then inside the fandom, we've got our own good/bad bronies, and our standards for what makes them are different. I guess we just need to be aware that different communities have different levels of tolerance for it.
If this were Something Awful right now, we'd all be banned already.

But this is a massive topic slide, so back to the original post, huh, I kind of wish I had anything worth submitting, but I really don't. All my old stuff is... old, and I've had writer's block since January. Anyone decided on submissions yet?

You don't have to be an Abyssal to work for the Void and mess shit up. Are you okay with employing Lunars?

Someday I'll watch the show.

In the meantime, I might try writing something if the ship hasn't already sailed (silly 11 year anniversary putting me out of internet range for 10 days).
