I'll post up the first Sidereal later, perhaps. She is one of several characters who have come to me in dreams...

Haha, yes. Let me see, it was her, Merak (probably the best-designed character I've ever made, visually speaking), and a few minor characters I never fleshed out. I have a dream with Exalted characters practically every night; it's just rare to have one with an Exalted character who's utterly new

Name: Zato-no Ke'Aus
Caste: Chosen of Endings
Concept: Bitter Blind Prophet
Motivation: To ensure Saturn's desires for the world are met
As Saturn is strange and alien among the Maidens, Zato-no Ke'Aus is strange among her Caste. She was not so, once- merely a quiet, androgynous young woman, focused, with little humour. She poured her life into her training, exhausting even her sifu with her efforts to master the greatest of the Arts; with her remaining time, she dedicated herself to her sanxian, writing discordant songs that disturbed her listeners. None know if she was happy, then, but she seemed content enough.
It has been some time since Ke'Aus seemed content. Her world was transformed during one ill-fated mission; the Journeys and Secrets assigned with her escaped the deathknight they could not have predicted, but Ke'Aus lost her eyes to his soulsteel claws before she could get away.
To her mentor's surprise, she refused all healing. Her cuts remained, despite her Exalted nature, scarring over a dark red that would forever stand out against her pale skin. She merely tied a purple sash over her destroyed eyes, and continued on. But she was different, from that time- her voice was heard, now, among the Sidereal Host, frequently raising protest, bringing down scorn on hard-won agreements, throwing wrenches into the plans. She became more aggressive, much more cynical, and more than happy to share her new traits with her fellow Chosen.
When asked, she said that she would never seek out sight again. Saturn, she claimed, had given her a new form of vision...
Finally, she vanished. There were a few moments of panic in her immediate department, but no personal fears or broken hearts- the blind one Ke'Aus left no friends, and even her department had lessened her load, finding her tasks done carelessly after the loss of her eyes.
Zato-no Ke'Aus is slim and pale, and not obviously either gender. Her short hair is more colourless than white, cropped roughly above her shoulders and hanging over her face. It doesn't do enough to hide the six red scars marking across her face, but the long violet scarf bound around her eyes at least hides the worst of the damage. She wanders Creation at present, unmissed. The Sidereal Host feels a slight responsibility to her and a slight betrayal by her, but she is still young. There will be time to retrieve her. Like her hair, her cloak is somewhat transparent, silvery and flowing- a gift from her sifu. She carries a long staff which she leans on as she berates the world and a pouch of rune stones she casts when the world berates her, feeling out the markings with agile fingers. Her sanxian is always on her back; her tunes now are even more dissonant than they once were, and townsfolk feel a sense of bitter unhappiness they cannot explain for days after they've forgotten the quiet scarred beggar who played in their teahouse.
Ke'Aus is a practitioner of Silver-Voiced Nightingale Style and Cobra Style, and she has a few introductory charms to Charcoal March of Spiders Style, which she never returned to the study of after her life was changed.
Her favourite Colleges are the Ship's Wheel, the Gauntlet, the Mask, the Crow, and the Sword. Her resplendency identities are not always blind now, but their eyes are usually averted or concealed in some way, as Ke'Aus dislikes having to remember where to "look".
As a Chosen of Endings, her Auspicious abilities are Awareness, Bureaucracy, Integrity, Martial Arts, and Medicine, and she favours Linguistics, Lore, Occult, and Performance. Her intimacies include Saturn (bitter love), the deathknight who blinded her (vicious hatred), factional disputes (disgust), and song-writing (joy).
I drew her years ago. That's why this picture
sucks. Perhaps it's time to redraw her again.
