The city Malfeas is a world of shifting continents and shifting fortunes. Demons carve empires for themselves before they too are carved in turn and made to serve another. Shenogda, the Protection of Names, watches these struggles, and ensures that no demon overreaches its grasp. The ninth soul of She Who Lives In Her Name is a peer to Orabilis, and though Orabilis is concerned with knowledge, and Shenogda, with station, they often make time to debate with each other on the proper places set out in the world.
Shenogda appears as a set of enormous doors, sealed shut with an enormous carved seal. On occasion, it will take up residence in the greatest of palaces in the demon city and deny entrance as it sees fit. When it does take a jouten form, it is as a very tall frog-headed being, swathed in robes of stone tile. It bears a loop of rope around its neck as a king might wear his own symbol, and a piece of twisted paper in the shape of a signet ring on its finger.
Shenogda is impassive, but whimsical, and may bar passage to a nobleman and allow in a beggar, if he sees fit. It is not true station that Shenogda respects, but the implication of it, and if a street child is recognized as the leader of his pack of wild orphans, it is of more weight to Shenogda's eyes than a lady of the court, if she does not assert her power.
Shenogda is usually summoned to keep a sorcerer's enemies banished from his presence, but a summoner is wise to consider his enemies well before binding Shenogda to protect him, for if they are men of strong bearing who wield their titles like banners, he may well find himself locked into his own palace, rather than they locked out of it. Shenogda may slip into Creation when a king of no lineage is heralded, but as he finds the Demon City busy work to monitor as it is, he infrequently takes advantage of it.
"Well, we can't piss off the Unconquered Sun a second time. If he turns his back on us again he'll be facing us this time."
