More like the tiniest purplesid you can imagine. But Seras didn't use Charms to put a Head Whammy on Epiphany--she can't spend essence without triggering her anima. Epiphany's "conversion" was all natural.

Seras doesn't have a social combo. She has a big dice pool and persistance. If someone spends the 2 wp to fend off one successful advance, she just stunt-changes the tactic.

Granted, this is considerably harder under 2e. So, this time around she does stuff to make them sloowly forge and intimacy to her, and then gets 'em when they're good 'n' ready.

Which is a far more natural and far less horrible-to-consider approach, rather than carving their psyche into a shape more pleasing to you via essence, ala Aiden and his Solar social charms.

The social charms aren't innately bad; Adien's just an asshole, IMO.

Most likely, but even still... there are solar charms that can instantly make someone devoted to you, give them an order they can't refuse, seduce or awe them regardless of preferences or prior attachments, turn someone into a slavish servant for [charisma] days...
While they need not necissarily be used for more unpleasant ends... these things are a little creepy to consider.

And there are social charms for other Exalts (and creatures) that do similar things. Sidereal and even DB social (ususally againt mortals) is pretty nasty if you want to be as well as Fair Folk. My point was the Solar (or any) social charms aren't innately wrong, its how you chose to employ them. The power of Solar social charms has been somewhat cut back in 2ed even since they're are more hard rules for how they can be resisted and what they do. Many of them are less binary than they were. That Immaculate should have dipped a little deeper into social defense trees.

Oh, certainly there are many in exalted with the power to manipulate people that intensely. And I agree, social charms are not inherently bad, you can use hypnotic tongue technique to get someone to lower their weapon and discuss things with you peaceably (for example).
But really think about what these charms are doing, noteably to the minds of others. Then stop and look at the title of the charms: "Worshipful Lackey Acquisition" and "Husband-Seducing Demon Dance" and think about what social charms (and solar social charms in this case) really do to people.

See, that is part of what I'm saying. You seem to be focusing really intently on the Solar charms. The others are just as "bad" or just as "good" as the person that employs them. They do specific things and can be abused. What exactly some of them depends on if they are considered Natrual or Unnatural mental influence.

Actually, I'm only making reference to solar charms because that's what's relevant at the moment (Aiden and all). But yes, almost every type of supernatural in Exalted can rape the mind.

And even if for a nicer reason, a character is still using mastery of essence to bend someone elses mind to their own will. It may be justified, or not always an issue, but at it's core... that's what it's doing.
