Thanks for the continued feedback, guys.

I removed the forum logo to cut down on the header size (which needed doing anyhow. I want to emphasize that the forum is a submodule of the site, but it doesn't need its own logo to do that) and changed the .content class (which gets applied to the message area of forum posts) from overflow:hidden to overflow:auto. This should automatically produce scrollbars if the post contains an image wider than the thread itself.

Regarding session timeouts, however: I really can't raise the idle timer much beyond where it's currently set (15 minutes), not without possibly running into a hard thread limit with the webserver and ruining everyone's fun.

fair enough with the login thing, it never came up before, because i was always just auto-logged in, but since i am no longer doing that, it appeared, and i figured it might be worth mentioning. likewise, being able to see images properly is appreciated.

cant say i've noticed any real drop in header real estate, the trouble comes from the overall site header (which is massive) rather than the forum one. i realise i'm quite the minimalist, but why is the site header so big? is there an actual reason that i'm just not seeing? i get that you want to constantly remind everyone that this is a community and that we have an oekaki and such, but the current billboard seems a bit absurd

as to resolution and stuff, i am using firefox on a 1024/768 screen, but the firefox window is usually about 920/700 which makes the actual viewing space about 890/550. so a 300 deep set of headers eats up a lot of space

How about changing the forum header from this...
Image

...to this?
Image

It requires a bit of structural messing-around but it trims a lot of unneccessary fat off the site while retaining all the juicy bits. And I'm fairly certain that the search box fits into the second line of the lighter box without issues (if you put it in the first line it might cause the navigation line to wrap on computers with narrow displays).

As for overflow:auto: Hell yeah. Just... hell yeah.

If it's really that bad, 1) maximize the window and learn the greatness of Alt + Tab, 2) go to fullscreen mode on Firefox, which should be F11.

i am well versed in alt-tab. the reason i have a less than full screen firefox window is because i set it that way intentionally, so that i can keep access to other things easily. my trillian window runs along the right hand side of the screen, so i can see when new people/emails appear without constantly checking over, it allows an ultraminimalist winamp player to run across the top, the startbar that drops away down the bottom, and a small gap where i can access shortcuts to various media folders.

another small query. can we switch positions on the Submit and Save buttons? i keep clicking on save by mistake ~_~;;;

*shrug* I did it occasionally too, the first two or three times I posted. There's no need to move that around if you just double-check yourself the first few times, you'll memorize where it is.

Danke! I want this site to be a place where you guys actually enjoy coming, so definitely keep the feedback coming.

Speaking of which, I noticed that lists weren't properly displaying bullets. Yeah, that's fixed now. >_>

You should have said something. I didn't even notice it until I tried to create a bulleted list last night.

Okay, a few times since the change, I have relied on google to find what I am looking on here. Before, I thought it was just you not done fixing things, but I checked today to see what I got.

http://i48.tinypic.com/11sz2fs.jpg Link to frame-breaking picture, though it's not too big.

And after checking what happens if you hit 'view print' it does the same thing for any thread. If you scroll down, while you can see images, the text is black on black, so unless it's quoted, you can't read it.

Unfortunately, it looks like Google (really Kon, I think the joke's gone on long enough. Can we kill the word filter already? :ohdear:) has an older URL cached which contains a (long expired) session ID. Likely this is from a traversal which took place while I was still moving things over.

But since this is on Google's end (notice that the link works fine if you leave off "&sid=" and everything after), literally all I can do is wait for their spider to re-index the forum.

Feedback/Suggestion?

I used to be able to right click on the Post Reply button to launch a reply in a separate window (so I can view people's comments and what I'm writing in two separate windows easily). Since the change, I no longer can do that.

Any idea why and if it can be fixed?

Occurs in both IE and Firefox.

Opening in a new tab seems to work (tested with Firefox 3.6/OS X). Have you tried that? (If it does work I still have no idea what might be causing it but it would be a workaround at least.)

The header is occasionally bugging out on me, and becoming a plaintext list of links.

It seems to have fixed itself though.

I can't edit my signature, because apparently the character limit is now 255 or something... and I'm way over. Like twice that.

So, I've been having trouble staying logged in on the new site. I log in as normal and everything seems dandy, but then two minutes later I'll find that I've been logged out again. Navigating away from the site logs me out instantly, while browsing it usually lasts a couple of minutes. The "Automatically log in" option does absolutely nothing, of course. I've tried clearing out my cookies, to no effect. If it makes a difference, I'm running the latest version of Firefox.

Sorry about that. Apparently the character limit reverted to the default value during the last patch. I've raised it to 700 characters - the old setting.
