I went a little long, and for that, I apologize. Still, I hope interest in this contest goes up! People should be fighting for this stuff.
Formless Crane Smiting Wickedness
The Mysterious Dancer General
They say the air was a little cold the day Formless Crane Smiting Wickedness was born. He was a cheery sort of Starmetal Alchemical from the second he was born. The technicians claim they have seen the ones who hug, the ones who look at everything blankly, and even the ones who are so stern that one would think they have been in service for a long time, but that they have never seen one whose first deed was to dance upon exiting the vat. True, much of what they would see from Crane would be dancing and performing. His superiors gave him many duties, which he did well, but he always seemed to be performing when one would expect he would be working towards the next big plan.
To say he is a fool, however, is a lie his enemies and strict superiors tell themselves because of his whimsical manner. Some of his kind would even call him a mad genius; his social engineering and scheming is done directly. Sure, he doesn’t have the same kind of insight of the entire picture as some of his associates do, but he has a crystal-clear view of the situation on the ground where he is and he exploits it along with the information funneled to him by his allies (though he’d call them dear friends). Just how often this flamboyant Champion is seen dancing for (and with) the Populat gives many the impression that the majority of his duties are to raise morale. Still, he is not hopeless when confronted with a situation that can’t be solved by emotionally compelling performances and a quick wit.
His battle armor is a strange hybrid of exposed armor and free-flowing clothing; some suspect it is a creation the state gifted him to make it easier to do his job, others suspect it is some special performance garb the technicians put onto his armor. Either way, it seems to change color and shape at his whim, though it almost always takes the form of some performer‘s outfit. Though short and wiry with long and feminine hair, he possesses a strength and staying power that a true performer would only dream of and he has two razor fans integrated and concealed in his arms for use in combat. He employs them gracefully, with the accuracy of a master and the force of a far larger Champion. If he has to go into organized large-scale battle, he brings his own battalion to the field. These lightly armed and armored individuals go into battle with spears, fans, and a variety of thrown weapons and are typically relegated to scouting and maneuvers where speed is of the essence. He recruits whoever proves worthy and willing to join this battalion: The Rapidly Accelerating Dancers’ Array. Though it is officially State Managed Forward Scout Battalion #5, he has never abused the privilege of its command before and the State sees no reason not to let him glamorize his military unit if it inspires the Populat.
A celebrity among celebrities who manipulates things from the fore, Crane is a Champion that allies can only hope to understand, enemies find endlessly annoying, and mortals whisper and gossip about when they should be working harder. To the State, he is an enigma and, to his foes, he is a twisting and twirling manifestation of the Maker’s justice...
