Veils slows down as he passes the gate, sparing a brief glare for the catcalling woman, then heads purposefully towards the Strider.
Better. Not quite gone yet... He puts on a neutral expression.
His senses sharpen for a brief moment and the world seems to quiet as the sun mercifully slips beyond the horizon. The living flesh around you seems to pulsate disgustingly in the firelight thrown by the light-tower, in stark contrast to his perfectly smooth flesh and the slightly decaying skin of another... White Bone Sinner.
He spots Sinner's characteristic hat from about 300 yards away, right at the top of the ladder. Its black shape is barely outlined by the sun's violet glow on a cloud situated behind his head from his perspective, and he can just barely make out his imperfectly shaped nose, a broken holdover from his days as a fighter.
To complement that, the woman making her way up the ladder has a distinct aura of magic about her. She seems to mirror his beyond-death form, but in a way that is distinctly alive. Her skin looks radiant and vivacious, and even the way that she curses seems to mark her as a superhuman being. Her voice is clear, and rings across the town in a flurry of foul oaths at the inconvenience of such modern travel. Her clothing appears to cost at least (Resources 4), which one can tell by the firm way the whale bones grip her chest and support her womanly figure beneath the dress. The clothing has resisted any staining during her travel up the rope ladder, and Veils also notices that she hasn't suffered any undue harm, as she doesn't even dust her hands together once she finally ascends the ladder.
Unfortunately, there are only two more passengers behind her, who seem much more capable of climbing than she. As they start to scale the ladder, the conductor (apparently deeming it less important that they make it aboard than the fact that they already paid for passage) calls out to the driver of the strange beast to begin. Veils has made significant gains in this time, merely 100 yards from the departure platform, but that's still 100 yards between him and the beast. This must be the last one, since more Forest Striders can be heard lowing their deep calls through the wooden forests from up Air's way.
The two passengers clutch the ladder, about halfway up. Veils also notices that there's one hammock-seat empty, the left-rear one, with the guard's bow still in it. The sling and rope ladder both end about 20 yards off the ground.
Toward the carriage-house you catch the barest glimpse... Is that the Green Lady? She seems to have the same features as her, but she's dressed radically different, in a tight, normal traveling coat and sturdy pants tucked into riding boots. Three manservants lug a torso-sized case behind her into the loading area.
