For Exalted
inspired by material from the story

Skywrath, Blade of the Storm-God
Artifact 3
Attunement Cost: 5m (starmetal)

Forged from the iron heart of a fallen star, and blessed with the powers of a storm-god.

Skywrath has the base stats of a starmetal daiklave. However, it is longer and thinner than most daiklaves, adding the Reach quality (R-tag). The leverage needed from the extra length requires two hands (adding the 2-tag).

In addition to the impressive cutting power of a starmetal daiklave, Skywrath is imbued with wrathful lightning. A good enough hit can rouse the lightning forth to lash out at one's foe. On any successful attack with Skywrath that scores at least 5 successes in excess of DV, the wielder may reduce the extra-successes by half (round down) for determining raw damage and add the removed extra-successes as post-soak dice instead. So for instance, an attack that scores 5 successes past DV could reduce that to 3 to determine damage, apply soak, and then add 2 to the post-soak damage pool.

The greater blessing of Skywrath may be activated on any successful hit with the weapon (at least 1 success past DV). If the wielder spends 5m at step 10 of the attack, arcs of lightning erupt from the target and strike every other enemy of the wielder within 5 yards of the target. This attack hits without requiring an attack roll, and inflicts the wielder's minimum damage (usually their Essence) in dice of lethal damage that ignores armor. Extras suffer levels instead of dice of lethal.

Races of the World #1
The Dwarf race has no unified culture, the only commonality being that they live most often in environments that most races consider difficult or inhospitable. Central Dwarves live in swamp-lands, Northern Dwarves in the desert, Southern Dwarves on the slopes of mountain foothills and Western Dwarves on the ocean coast. There are no known dwarves in the eastern regions, much like other civilized races, most likely due to the monstrous inhabitants of the East.

Central Dwarves took to the swamp (their culture modeled very loosely after the Cajuns). They settled well in the swamp, their crafting skill allowing them to manage the difficulty terrain for settling. Poisonous animals are less of a concern due to dwarven poison-tolerance. Their stout frames and solid footing allowed them to wade through water-currents without any difficulty. They are a passionate people, prone to powerful emotions but also deep commitments.

* * *

When they migrated from the fey lands, the elves found the mountains of the mortal world to suit them the best. They were similar to the enormous trees of the feywild in height, and the natural agility of the elves served them well on the narrow passes and peaks. Their skill with archery was of great advantage since they had the high ground against almost any threat.

Culturally the elves are fairly similar in most areas, due to their long life spans and relatively short time among mortals. Only a handful of generations of elves have lived outside fey lands, and many of their eldest are only a generation removed from the first immigrants. As such, their culture has been very successfully passed down to the younger generations and maintained a stability not found in most other races.

* * *

Humans are most clearly divided into two groups: the people of the plains and the people of the forest.
The people of the plains are typically have an exploring spirit, they like to see new places or face new challenges. As such, most of them live in small frontier towns, often near the savage lands to the east. Beyond that they are a varied people, with all manner of creed and culture. That diversity also makes them open to interaction and alliances with other races. Their truly defining characteristic is that each generation redefines its characteristics.

The people of the forest lived originally in and around the coastal forests on what is now the Noblecoast. They are an intensely unified culture, seeing strength in numbers and organization, and are rather xenophobic. This is due to the extensive wars they fought against creatures from the forest, including many fey. It was the people of the forest who unified and formed the first human empire, which controlled over half the continent at its height. With the empire collapsed, several smaller kingdoms now occupy the former imperial lands.

For Exalted

Dwarven Forging Process

Dwarves know the secret of forging armor to channel essence in a bolstering manner.
If applied to mundane armor, this process makes it an artifact 1 with no attunement cost. The stats of the armor are unchanged, but the wearer heals from damage (levels and mangling) as though an Exalt while wearing the armor.
If applied to artifact armor, this process adds +2m to the attunement cost. It cannot be applied to magitech armor. While wearing the armor, multiply the wearer's healing rate by the artifact rating of the armor. This multiplier does not stack with any other healing speed increasing effect.
